After the big success of the past editions in Italy, Medimex Music Market is back in Taranto (Puglia)!
A unique event where independent labels and a fine selection of record collectors come together for a fair with exhibitors coming from Italy and other parts of Europe. A novelty for this year edition, a section dedicated to “music oriented” vintage handmade design.
Labels will DJ throughout the festival, with a solid programme during the big opening on Thursday. For thirsty and hungry music lovers, the market will also have an Italian food & drink area, by Voodoo Foodoo Street Food, Santeria and Sud.
Children are welcome in the “Kids area”, where they will learn the history of rock, from Beatles to Queen, David Bowie to Bob Marley, by playing and drawing: you can leave your cuties safe while you dig and have a drink!
+ enjoy free gigs in the area, courtesy of Asian Dub Foundation, Clock DVA and James Senese Napoli Centrale.

The tapeloop has a revival! It was already used as an instrument by DeliaDerbyshire, as well as the Beatles, right through to William Basinski. Now it’s your turn!
Sascha Bachmann is a musician from Berlin, who loves creating experimental sounds and dance beats with his solo project HAND. In this 60 min workshop heâll show you how to make music using the tape loop as an essential element, sharing his experiences built from years of experimenting with cassettes and reel to reel. Youâll watch him during a live session and be able to ask all questions about his techniques, compositions and way to combine the loop with other music elements.
For those who’d like to get a closer insight: You’ ll have the chance to record a unique loop and take it home on a cassette.

? 17:00 – 18:00 – Music Pool Berlin Community: Untying the knot, artists practices
Music Pool Berlin Community event -“Untying the knot“ artist practices and experiences with breaking down barriers in Pop Music.// Moderation: Rae Tilly artists: Shunaji, Duendita
Many Pop Musicians these days are moving in the music world with much more fluidity and acceptance of themselves as well as coming out and growing up in communities that are supporting of them and their honest real messages. Although for many artists, the path to making it, is determined by their race and or gender which are two additional factors to fight against on top of being an artist. We can all agree there is much work still to be done especially for intersectional gender equity. For a beginning on our part would like to talk to 2- 3 artists performing at the Torstrassenfestival this year who themselves can talk to us about their own journeys, give a shout out to their ancestors and artists who have helped breakdown these barriers and a takeaway that we can all reflect upon whether fan or a part of the music business. www.musicpoolberlin.net

4.30PM – 5.00PM – Alan Power
Alan Power is a UK based singer, songwriter, recording artist and comedian. Like something out of Phoenix Nights, Power emerged from nowhere early last year following a series of much talked about live appearances. Spending the latter half of 2018 making an Album and touring extensively, he sold out two London shows with no music online, and shared a stage with The Vaccines, Matt Maltese, Jack Ladder, Spector, Nick Allbrook and The International Teachers Of Pop among others. His music is rooted in traditional country and folk with notable leanings towards the abstract / post punk and experimental. His live show has provoked attention for its unconventional nature and unpredictability. Following the release of critically acclaimed debut album; Greatest Hits Vol. 1 – the mysterious Power looks like he might be one of the surprise breakthrough acts of 2019.

After the success of the first ILM edition in Brussels where nearly 2000 people came to discover Belgian and international independent music, ILM returns to the capital on April 20th and 21st. This year, ILM will team up with Listen Festival as part of the Sound District – an area entirely dedicated to music nested in the beautiful Halls of St. Gery, in the very heart of Brussels.
Attendees will discover new music, meet the heads of labels and put their hands on rarities, special editions, test pressings, collectors as well as back catalogue. They’ll also be able to meet and greet artists, musicians and dj‘s thanks to the signing sessions, special showcases and radio live stream programs.
Through a collaboration with some of the main international web radios, Brussels’ very own Kiosk Radio will connect local and international music scenes, co-broadcasting live from the Sound District and streamed on different channels: Red Light Radio (Netherlands), LYL Radio & Le Mellotron (France), Dublab (Germany).
Workshops and master classes in order to support artists and improving their knowledge and skills will be provided by Poppunt, Court Circuit & SAE.
Last but not least, Turnlab will showcase the newest trends in music production with an exciting Gear & Synth fair.
This weekend of celebration dedicated to independent music will be extended outside the Halls of St. Gery with a line-up of shows and events in some of Brussels’ must-see places and venues!
