The tapeloop has a revival! It was already used as an instrument by DeliaDerbyshire, as well as the Beatles, right through to William Basinski. Now it’s your turn!

Sascha Bachmann is a musician from Berlin, who loves creating experimental sounds and dance beats with his solo project HAND. In this 60 min workshop heâll show you how to make music using the tape loop as an essential element, sharing his experiences built from years of experimenting with cassettes and reel to reel. Youâll watch him during a live session and be able to ask all questions about his techniques, compositions and way to combine the loop with other music elements.
For those who’d like to get a closer insight: You’ ll have the chance to record a unique loop and take it home on a cassette.

? 17:00 – 18:00 – Music Pool Berlin Community: Untying the knot, artists practices

Music Pool Berlin Community event -“Untying the knot“ artist practices and experiences with breaking down barriers in Pop Music.// Moderation: Rae Tilly artists: Shunaji, Duendita

Many Pop Musicians these days are moving in the music world with much more fluidity and acceptance of themselves as well as coming out and growing up in communities that are supporting of them and their honest real messages. Although for many artists, the path to making it, is determined by their race and or gender which are two additional factors to fight against on top of being an artist. We can all agree there is much work still to be done especially for intersectional gender equity. For a beginning on our part would like to talk to 2- 3 artists performing at the Torstrassenfestival this year who themselves can talk to us about their own journeys, give a shout out to their ancestors and artists who have helped breakdown these barriers and a takeaway that we can all reflect upon whether fan or a part of the music business. www.musicpoolberlin.net
